Prepare for Your Visit

  • Please bring any breeder/rescue paperwork, vaccination status updates, list of all medications and food your pet gets, EVC/Specialist Reports if relevant, and any other pertinent medical information we need to treat your pet.

New Clients/Patients: On our Forms page you will find the New Client/Pet Registration Form and a Disclosure Form you may print + fill out prior to your visit. If you are unable to print these forms, no problem - we have copies we can provide! Please adjust your arrival time accordingly if you need to fill these forms out in the clinic.

  • We ask that you arrive to your appointments on time, enabling us to provide the care and attention we strive for with each of our patients throughout the day. We understand emergencies happen and traffic is inevitable - if you are not able to make your appointment or have been delayed, please call our Reception Team at (757) 833-6440 to notify us as soon as possible.

If you are a new client or bringing a new addition to the family, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time with any previous records you can provide so our Reception Team can prepare your chart without taking away time from your visit.

Occasionally our Clinical Team may be assisting with unexpected emergencies which can delay our appointments. While we understand this can be frustrating, we kindly request your patience as our goal is to provide top-tier service and attention to each animal that walks through our door. If this situation occurs and your schedule does not allow for extended wait periods, we will do our best to expedite your visit by accommodating you with another available Doctor or providing you with an alternate appointment time.

Medications: If your pet typically requires medication to reduce stress/anxiety during their visit, please ensure those are given 2 - 3 hours prior to arrival.

We are unable to accommodate walk-in appointments of any kind during weekday business hours.

  • Drop-off appointments must be scheduled with our Reception Team prior to arriving at our clinic. We ask that your pet is dropped off between 7 - 8am unless a different time is arranged prior to your scheduled appointment date.

Medications: If your pet typically requires medication to reduce stress/anxiety during their visit, please ensure those are given 2 - 3 hours prior to arrival. Any other medications can be given at their normal time unless stated otherwise by our SVMC Team.

Blood Glucose Curves: Prior to dropping off for a blood glucose curve, please be sure to feed and give insulin to your pet unless directed otherwise by a Doctor. We do not need you to bring any food or insulin unless specifically requested by a Doctor.

We are unable to accommodate walk-in appointments of any kind during weekday business hours.

  • Your pet should not have anything to eat after 9pm the night before their surgical procedure - water is okay to leave out. You may give your pet any chronic medication they take unless you are directed not to by our Clinical Team.

We ask that you drop-off between 7 - 8am and allow time to fill out an Anesthesia Consent form before you depart. Please ensure that someone is available at the provided number during the entire duration of your pet’s visit. Once the surgical procedure has been completed, a Doctor or Licensed Veterinary Technician will call with an update and provide a time you may pick up.

At pick-up our Team will go over post-surgical care, medication instructions, and any other relevant information you will need, so please plan your arrival time accordingly.

  • You are welcome to drop your pet off for boarding anytime during our regular business hours, however we do ask that you arrive no later that 15 minutes prior to closing time. This allows ample time for you to fill out a Boarding Contract and for your bestie to get settled in their “hotel suite.”
